Ancestry Content Submission Terms and Conditions (Note: These terms supplement and/or clarify the Site Terms and Conditions, are incorporated into them and do not replace them.)

The decision to upload personal information to the Ancestry website is your responsibility. Once you upload, the uploaded data becomes accessible by all persons accessing Ancestry websites, at least to the degree that it will be searched for data matches. By default, the Ancestry members may contact you anonymously regarding the content you add to the site (without seeing your email address). You can later change this setting in the My Account area of the site. Ancestry's liability and obligation in connection with the publishing of any information by you is strictly limited by the Site Terms and Conditions.

In addition please be aware that

By submitting content to Ancestry, you grant Ancestry.com Operations Inc., ("Ancestry") the corporate host of the Service, a license set out in the Site Terms and Conditions. You agree to provide true, accurate and complete information. If any information you provide is, in our sole judgment, false or misleading, we reserve the right to terminate your use of Ancestry and/or delete all content that you have submitted.

You should submit only content which belongs to you and will not violate the property or other rights of other people or organizations. We are sensitive to the copyright and other intellectual property rights of others. Be aware that content, including photographs, even if submitted to a site of which you are a member, belongs to the creator or submitter and you should not reproduce it without permission of the owner and that photographs of living individuals, except your own minor children, must not be posted without their consent. When creating an audio / voice recording, the personal content recorded should be your own, or if the creation of another, (for example a poem or article), used by permission of the owner.

We also reserve the right to remove any user provided content which comes to our attention and which we believe, in our sole discretion, is illegal, obscene, indecent, defamatory, incites racial or ethnic hatred, violates the rights of others or otherwise violates this Agreement. Activity that is brought to our attention which appears in our sole judgment to violate the law will be brought to the attention of the proper authorities.

All information that you post will be displayed and is available for others to search, view or hear. If you do not wish this content to be publicly associated with your Public Profile then please go to your Public Profile and My Site Preference section of the site to change your settings. If you do not want your tree and its content to be publicly available then you will need to go to your Family Tree and Manage Trees and change your settings from Public to Private. We will not edit or monitor user provided content, with the exception that an automated filtering tool will be used to suppress and omit from downloading information submitted in tree files which appears in our best judgment to pertain to a living person. Any user who chooses to make any personally identifiable or other information publicly available on Ancestry.com or its sister Ancestry sites does so at his/her own risk.
